La Grande Duckerie & La Petite Duckerie
This superb authentic farmhouse, La Duckerie, is also a reference to ducks. Is there a barnyard at the entrance? Should you feed them? Quacks everywhere? The answer is coming soon...
Ideally located, the cottage is at:
Only 3 h 40 hours from Paris by car or train (Valognes station is 3 km away).
20 min from the sea and the most beautiful villages in France, Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue and Barfleur, 2 charming villages known for the oysters and mussels they produce.
During a program presented by Stéphane Bern, on France 2, Barfleur becomes '3ᵉ favorite village of the French'.
10 min from the island of Tatihou and its famous Vauban towers, from Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, by amphibious boat.
25 min from Cherbourg (city of the sea)
30 min from La Hague, called Norman Ireland
The location is also perfect for visiting the Cotentin, the landing beaches, the English Channel...
Barfleur is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France and commonly called 'The pearl of the Val de Saire'.
It is a small traditional beaching port, where fishing and pleasure boats rub shoulders. First port of the Anglo-Norman kingdom in the Middle Ages, this picturesque and characterful village is steeped in history.
If the Val-de-Saire is inseparable from the Cotentin (Manche), Barfleur stands out, being the only city in the department ranked among the 172 most beautiful villages in France.
The Great Duckery
Its stone facade will charm you as soon as you arrive. It will transport you out of time.
This authentic cottage exudes a warm atmosphere, thanks to its authentic and country chic style.
The furniture of La Grande Duckerie, a legacy of a long line of your host Jennifer's family, blends perfectly with modern amenities, made available to you to make you feel like a rooster… uh, no… like a duck in paste!
In case of cold weather, the fireplace and its pleasant crackling wood fire awaits you.
Come on ! It's happy hour ! We pass the succulent toasts spread with foie gras… duck of course…
You see yourself there, don't you?
The Little Duckery
A little gem, a cocoon, a cozy (duck?) nest… and a gigantic round bathtub! This is what awaits you in this romantic cottage, with crazy charm.
The evenings around the grand piano will only be warmer and more melodious. Are there any musicians among you? The Clef Decamp piano accepts no wrong note, no duck sound!
The atypical bedroom, with its glass roof, its spiral staircase in wrought iron and its enchanting decoration, will soften your nights.
In the open air
The house has a pleasant private garden, behind the house, where it is good to stroll... with or without duck gossip? Still a little patience for the answer.
You can go and say hello to the cows, grazing peacefully in the surrounding green pastures.
The calm and the sweet floral smells of the countryside will undoubtedly charm you.
What are you planning?
Read your duck quietly in the lounge chair? To amuse you ? Or bubble?
All 3 maybe?
You will be spoiled for choice with the games available to you: table football, table tennis, darts, petanque, board games...
Even if you lose a game, I promise, you won't be the ugly duckling!
Unless you prefer to chase after ducklings… but do they really exist? The answer is imminent.
A relaxation room is available with a sauna, an Italian shower and the jacuzzi, under a glass roof... the starry vault extends its sparkling arms to you.
Important on the operation of the relaxation area:
It is open 24 hours a day and unlimited use.
This relaxation room will be shared with the other guests of the Petite Duckerie, Duckfly or Boulangerie gîtes, if they also take this option.
A notice board allows you to reserve your desired times, in order to privatize the jacuzzi or the sauna.
Duckfly customers will be able to access the relaxation area, without going outside. Guests of other gites will have their own independent access.
Let's solve the mystery of the Duckerie and its ducks!
The previous owner treasured them.
He created a mold of his own duck and inserted it all over the property. Can you spot all the castings?
After a prolific reflection by Jennifer Decamp, the current owner, the name of the domain was born… La Duckerie!
And now... your mission... Avoiding the ducks, when you all shout together:
It's the dance of the ducks
Who leaving the pond
Shake the lower part of the kidneys
Do like the little ducks
And so that everyone laughs
Shake the booty
By doing quack-quack...
On this joyful song which, for sure, does not break 3 legs to a duck! But it will forever remain a mythical song.
It is convenient…
The Grande Duckerie is adjoining the Petite Duckerie. You can therefore have an additional bedroom, if necessary.
Independent parking for 8 cars is allocated to you.
2 min by car, or 20 min on foot, with a nice walk along the paths, you reach Valognes and will find everything you need there:
Supermarkets, cinema, municipal swimming pool, restaurants, caterers, bakeries, banks...
Do you know ?
Valognes is called the Little Norman Versailles!
In the 17th and 18th centuries, this city teemed with a plethora of aristocrats and no less than a hundred mansions were built within the walls of the prosperous city.
Before joining the Court of Versailles, the subjects were educated for a few months, in contact with the 'aristocratic fauna' of Valognes.
They learned the good manners and codes of the Royal Court.
Today, there are about 35 beautiful mansions left. Push their doors to discover the beautiful paved courtyards and their ornamental gardens.
Many were destroyed by World War II.
PS: Quack! Donald and Daffy Duck whisper in our ears that the time has come to click on Reserve La Grande Duckerie!
I promise, when you get home, you won't be walking like a duck and you won't be a lame duck, even if the “fireplace, jacuzzi, baby” experience is intense with us!
Come on !
A little funny story before leaving:
'It's the story of a hen and a duck.
The hen says to the duck: it's freezing cold here.
The duck replies: yes, I have goosebumps”.
Having no cottage on the theme of the hen promised, I stop here!
