The name 'Souleuvre en Bocage' was chosen to name the new town.
This name refers to the Souleuvre, a watercourse that crosses the municipal territory. It flows into the Vire, and into the Bocage Virois, the natural region of which the town is part.

The mysteries of the Souleuvre viaduct.?
It was built between 1887 and 1889, according to plans by Gustave Eiffel.
It allowed the railway line, Caen-Vire, to cross the Souleuvre valley.
During the Second World War, the viaduct escaped destruction several times. It was the allies who sought to destroy it, due to its strategic position in an occupied Lower Normandy bocage.
They will drop no less than 500 bombs, all falling close!
The structure is therefore only partially damaged.
In 1988,AJ Hackett discovers the site which reminds him of the one he has just created above the Kawarau River, in New Zealand. The first jumps will see the light of day in November 1990.
2 min on foot is the time it will take you to reach thetown of Beni-Bocage, where you will find all the amenities: bakery, charcuterie, grocery store, hairdresser, bar-tabac…
